HanDBase Database Manager App Reviews

Have used this for years - but the fact that this will reliably lose records and the fact that it seems to be tolerated by most is to me incredible. This lost its last password today after 15 years of tolerating the losses due to the good flexibility & user interface.

Ive been using HanDBase now for over 2 years, ever since my trusty Palm TX died. This app gets used every single day and I would be lost without it. Porting DBs over from Smartlist To Go was easier than I could have imagined and the new HanDBase DBs only needed slight tweaking to be up and running smoothly. Creating new HanDBase DBs is easy and fill a multitude of needs. On-line documentation is very good, and the Customer Support is SUPERB. Questions are answered promptly and succintly. The only time HanDBase wouldnt do what I wanted it to do, was not the apps fault, but my own. So, I can say that in the year Ive had it, never had a problem with the app per se. For anyone who needs an app to keep track of DBs, then THIS is the app to get. There is also a Desktop Companion and the syncing between the two has never given me a problem. I am comfortable knowing that should either the iTouch, or the Desktop crash, then there is a reliable backup of all my important DBs that I can access without problem. There have been many many updates since I first reviewed this app over a year ago...and the app just keeps getting better and better. Again, Awesome app and Wonderful Support

I have a few suggestions which can turn it into a better product. 1) ability to move across horizontally to view the entire record, even with 100% field width. 2) optional row id / number (may be as a field type. Please refer to application "List Master" which is available on App Store. It will really make it easy to scroll up & down the records visually. 3) Optional feature: View Record screen. Implement it as done by "List Master". I really feel the absence of these requested features as I come from RDBMS background. In case of positive response from the developer, I will contribute with more feedback. I believe if developer can manage these requested feutres, it will become even a better product and will be a clear winner.

I have been using Handbase for Palm for years and am glad the iPhone version is available and working very well. No problem using all the database I have made in the past. Would love to see support for iPhone 5 screen and also a cloud sync function would be great!

The new Retina toolbar icons and checkbox are well appreciated. Now could you correct the bug where all the toolbar icons are stuck in the lower-left corner during the rotating animation while browsing from one entry to the next?

Checkboxes are INCREDIBLY large, they take up too much space. All of the fields in record view are over written by field names. Theyve pretty much ruined the app.

There is still no other relational database app for smartphones that comes close. Syncing works fine with wi-fi and optional desktop software, but could be improved with iCloud or Dropbox integration. Could use some new applets (user solutions) in the HandBase gallery. Looking forward to a rewrite of the desktop version: perhaps an app for Mac OS with built-in forms designer? Great customer support.

Good until you want to use formulas or calculated field. Then you can use only math calculations. No string, no if-then. No refund option, shame.

Been using HanDBase for years. The font size got bigger after iOS 9 upgrade and now many items wont fit into the space. I may have to redesign all the forms again. There must be a way to prevent iOS upgrade to change the font and size on the forms. Please fix. I tried to reduce the system font size (display & brightness/ Font size slider) but it didnt help.

Great app I use daily for multiple databases. Sadly, todays update broke the ability to open a handbase file via Safari eg handbase://myfile no longer works.

iPhone 5S running iOS 8.4.1 The app will start but it cant keep focus. After selecting it IPhone switched back to home screen. If previously in another app it still switched to the home screen. Restarting the phone was not helpful.

ClieでのHanDBaseは日本語が使用できたので購入しましたが、残念ながら 4.00バージョンは日本語が文字化けしてしまいます。 08/12/9時点、4.0.3でも日本語が使用できません。

With forms now is amazing!! Why dont you make backgrounds for the form... White is a lot depressive...

A real data base full of substance. I hope the developer will improve the overall graphic appearance and add the iCloud sync.

Its tough when you have a piece of software that is this old, and there is not a lot of buzz around it to create additional sales opportunities. Then you left with owners complaining about wanting new features, but not much revenue coming in to help make those features happen. I’m not sure what needs to happen to put this app back in the spotlight, but I wish the developer much luck with that. Hopefully as more revenue comes in, he can find the hours needed to make updates and add new features. Even with the lack of updates, this is the best database app on the store. I for one would be willing to put up some money for a subscription model, if the software was kept up-to-date through that revenue stream. Maybe there are more people like me out there, that find this app very useful, and wouldn’t mind supporting the developer financially so he could make additional updates.

Greatest database program. Shame that there are no updates. :(

Crashes and freezes. Other issues abound. Used to be a great app.

Been using it since palm pilot days. Latest update will not open. It crashes at start up on my iPhone 6

Great App, hand it on PalmOS ... and using since it come out on both the iPad and iPhone... would be better if you guys add iCloud Support for Database files, so can share the databases on all iOS devices with HanDBase.
